How this site works
Retaining Walls Sydney is a referral service. When you call 02 5137 7616 or send an enquiry through the form, your details go to independent, third-party retaining wall contractors who service your part of Sydney. The contractors are separate businesses: they provide the quote, sign the contract, and build the wall in their own name. The operator of this website is not the builder and is not a party to the agreement you make with a contractor.
Two checks to make before work starts
We ask the contractors we work with to hold the relevant licences and insurance, but we do not independently verify them — so check for yourself. It takes minutes:
- Licence. In NSW, structural landscaping and retaining wall work above certain values requires a licensed contractor. Ask for the licence number and check it on the NSW licence register at verify.licence.nsw.gov.au, rather than relying on a copy.
- Insurance. Ask to see a current certificate of public liability insurance, and — where the contract price requires it — evidence of home building compensation (HBC) cover.
Approvals sit with council
Nothing on this site is a promise that a wall can be approved. Retaining walls above roughly 600mm–1m commonly need engineering input and council or certifier sign-off, and the rules differ between councils. The contractor can advise on the likely pathway; council or an accredited certifier makes the decision.
